Fisher Cats take big lead, hang on to beat SeaWolves

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats jumped out to a 5-0 lead last night and then rode another solid start by Casey Lawrence to a 7-4 victory over the Erie SeaWolves.

Lawrence allowed 11 hits and four runs in seven innings, but he never let the SeaWolves tie the game and improved to 9-5. He struck out three.

Cory Aldridge provided the Fisher Cats (56-60) with their first two runs on two-out RBI singles in the first and third innings. In the fifth, Jon Berti drove in one run with a double and Matt Newman made it 5-0 with a two-run single.

Aldridge, Berti and Andy Burns each had two hits for New Hampshire.

The teams continue the series tonight at 7:05. Scott Copeland (7-7, 3.87) takes to the hill for the Fisher Cats against Jeff Ferrell (7-7, 5.27).
