Fisher Cats sink RubberDucks, 5-2
Michael Lee pitched six shutout innings, Matt Newman had three hits and Mike McDade hit his seventh home run of the season to lead the New Hampshire Fisher Cats past the Akron RubberDucks, 5-2, last night.
Lee (1-0) scattered five hits over six innings, striking out five and walking two and left with a 3-0 lead. New Hampshire staked him to that lead in the fourth inning. McDade got it started with a two-out solo home run. Michael Crouse followed with a double and scored on a single by Yusuf Carter, and Newman drove in Carter with a triple.
The Fisher Cats (58-62) extended their lead to 5-0 in the sixth when Crouse scored on a wild pitch and Carter scored on a single by Newman and an error.
Akron (65-56) got two back in the seventh off reliever Richard Bleier, but Gregory Infante closed the door in the ninth for his 18th save.
