Akron’s fast start drops Fisher Cats, 9-3
After going seven innings in his previous four starts, Casey Lawrence (9-6) struggled from the get-go yesterday, giving up four runs in the first inning of the Fisher Cats’ 9-3 loss to the Akron RubberDucks
Lawrence left after five innings, giving up a season-high seven runs on nine hits. He struck out three and walked one as his three-game winning streak came to an end.
The RubberDucks (66-56) added two more runs in the sixth against Scott Gracey, padding their lead to 9-1.
Jack Murphy and Andy Fermin each blasted home runs for New Hampshire (58-63). Fermin and Murphy accounted for four of the Fisher Cats’ five hits.
After an off-day today, the Fisher Cats begin a six-game homestand tomorrow against the Richmond Flying Squirrels at 7:05 p.m.
