Fisher Cats see rally fall short in 9-7 loss to Akron
Rally falls short
The New Hampshire Fisher Cats made an effort to climb out of a six-run hole last night, narrowing the gap to two runs before ending up with a 9-7 loss to the Akron RubberDucks.
The Fisher Cats trailed 6-0 after the top of the fourth, but scored twice in the fourth, once in the fifth and twice in the sixth to cut the gap to 7-5. The Fisher Cats chipped away again after Akron got its lead back up to four runs, but left the bases loaded in the ninth.
Derrick Chung led the comeback effort with three hits, two doubles and two RBI. Jon Berti, Melky Mesa and Kevin Nolan added two hits apiece.
Casey Lawrence (9-7) took the loss, allowing seven runs (all earned) in 4.1 innings. Mickey Storey, Dustin Antolin and Gregory Infante handled relief duties.
Shawn Morimando (2-4) got the win for Akron, and Enosil Tejada recorded the save.
