Lee, Pompey lead Fisher Cats over Thunder
Michael Lee allowed one run in seven innings and Dalton Pompey homered as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats opened a three-game series in Trenton with a 2-1 win over the Thunder last night.
Lee (2-1) won for the second time in three starts with New Hampshire (62-66). He allowed three hits, walked two and struck out five. Dustin Antolin worked a perfect eighth with two strikeouts. Gregory Infante allowed two singles with one out in the bottom of the ninth, but got Mason Williams to ground out and struck out Dan Fiorito to end the game for his 20th save.
Pompey was activated from the disabled list prior to the game. After nearly knocking one out in his first at-bat, he drilled a two-run homer in the top of the third inning for a 2-1 lead. Kevin Nolan, who had walked, scored ahead of Pompey. The home run was Pompey’s third for New Hampshire this season.
Top Yankees pitching prospect Luis Severino (2-1), who was also coming off the disabled list, worked three innings. He allowed the Pompey home run. Trenton’s bullpen worked six scoreless innings, allowing only one hit (a Jon Berti infield single), the rest of the game.
The Fisher Cats and Thunder continue the series tonight at 7:05. RHP P.J. Walters (1-1, 3.52) pitches for New Hampshire against LHP Daniel Camarena (1-5, 6.62).
