Berti’s grand slam caps big offensive night for Fisher Cats

Andy Burns and Brad Glenn drilled two-run homers in the top of the sixth and Jon Berti hit a grand slam in the seventh as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats rolled to an 8-2 road win over the Trenton Thunder last night.

With two outs in the sixth, Berti (3-for-4) tripled for the second time in the game, then Burns followed with his 13th homer. After Melky Mesa reached on an infield single, Glenn homered in his first game with the Fisher Cats after a three-month stint with Triple-A Buffalo.

After singles by Mike McDade, Michael Crouse and Jorge Flores loaded the bases in the seventh, Berti hit his seventh home run of the season and the first grand slam of his career.

P.J. Walters (2-1) earned the win for the Fisher Cats, working seven scoreless frames. He allowed six hits, did not walk a batter and struck out six.
