Fisher Cats shut out in series finale in Trenton

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats managed just four hits, all singles, and dropped their series finale against the Trenton Thunder, 3-0, last night.

Starter Scott Copeland allowed three runs on eight hits and two walks in six innings and took the loss for New Hampshire (63-67), which saw its four-game winning streak snapped.

Thunder starter Jaron Long retired the first 16 Fisher Cats before Kevin Nolan broke up the perfect game with a single in the sixth. Gustavo Pierre, playing in his first game at Double-A, followed with a single, but the Fisher Cats’ rally ended there.

New Hampshire returns home to start its final homestand of the season tonight against the Portland Sea Dogs. Right-hander Casey Lawrence (9-7, 3.60) starts for the Fisher Cats against Portland righty Keith Couch (7-1, 2.70).
