Day 2 Recap

The second day of the Sprint Media Tour began with media sessions by Furniture Row and Michael Waltrip Racing.

The discussions at Furniture Row revolved around the addition of Kurt Busch, the former Sprint Cup champion, who considered the one-car team's close ties with Richard Childress Racing to be a major asset for its competitive hopes.

The Waltrip session was attended by owner Michael Waltrip and drivers Clint Bowyer, Martin Truex Jr., Mark Martin and Brian Vickers. Waltrip discussed the importance of physical training in shaving seconds off of pit stops and run times, while Bowyer went over his surprising second-place finish in last year's Chase for the Cup.

The day also included NASCAR chairman Brian France and president Mike Helton discussing the hope that the new Gen-6 car will create more competitive races, as well as a local announcement when New Hampshire Motor Speedway broke the news that Sylvania will remain the sponsor of the Sylvania 300 through 2017.

Quotes of the Day

"What about Kevin Harvick? I've had nine years of that. I think the good Lord prepared me." - Kurt Busch crew chief Todd Berrier, on learning to deal with combative drivers after working with the quick-tempered Harvick.

"He's a freak of nature. He's like four feet tall and a rock. And a hard rock." - Clint Bowyer on teammate and fitness freak Mark Martin.

"I'm pretty proud of where I live. I like it here. . . . I love racing against (European drivers), but let's keep it here in the United States." - Bowyer on the idea of racing in Europe.
