Division IV quarterfinals

No. 5 Pittsfield (15-4) at No. 4 Groveton (15-4), 7 p.m.

HEAD TO HEAD: The teams did not meet during the regular season.

pREVIOUS TOURNAMENT GAMES: Pittsfield stopped No. 12 Derryfield, 31-18. Groveton eliminated No. 13 Gorham, 49-26.

NOTES: After opening the season with nine straight wins, Groveton suffered all four of its losses in a five-game span in late January-early February, when the Eagles lost twice to No. 3 Colebrook, once to No. 8 Woodsville and once to White Mountains, the No. 4 team in D-III. They came back to beat White Mountains in the regular season finale, however. Pittsfield’s only losses were twice each to No. 1 Hinsdale and No. 2 Sunapee, and the Panthers are currently on a five-game winning streak. This should be a matchup of Pittsfield’s stingy defense, which yields just 26.5 points per game, against Groveton’s offense, which averages 51.7 ppg. If Pittsfield can hold the Eagles well below their average, then look for veterans Bekah Adams, Sage Anthony, Brooke Vien and Stefani Gauthier to carry the offensive load.
