N.H. Fish and Game: Time to remove the bobhouses

It still may feel pretty cold outside, but New Hampshire’s Fish and Game Department is urging fishermen to get their bobhouses off the ice by April 1.

With swinging temperatures in the Lakes Region, the department is telling fishermen to not wait until it is too late to avoid a fine, as well as polluting the water.

Sgt. David Eskeland tells The Citizen that every year there are people who wait too long and can’t get their bobhouses out of the water. Varying temperatures can cause bobhouses to sink slightly and freeze into the ice. Other times, the ice will weaken and the bobhouses will simply fall through.
