Manchester Monarchs cruise past Worcester Sharks, 3-0
The Manchester Monarchs grabbed an early lead and held on to defeat the Worcester Sharks, 3-1, on the road last night.
Manchester opened the scoring with a goal by defenseman Vincent LoVerde at 8:59 of the first period.
Defenseman David Kolomatis made it 2-0 with a power-play goal 29 seconds into the second period, then Brandon Kozun scored at 7:18 of the second to extend the lead to 3-0.
Monarchs goalie Martin Jones (21-22-4) earned his 21st victory of the season, making 40 saves on 41 shots, including 19 saves in the third period.
Manchester (31-28-3-4) sits in third place in the Atlantic Division with 69 points. Worcester (29-27-1-6) is in fourth place in the Atlantic with 65 points.
