Monarchs let first-period lead slip away in 4-2 loss to Portland

The Portland Pirates scored back-to-back goals to break a third-period tie and defeat the Manchester Monarchs, 4-2, last night.

Darian Dziurzynski scored the winning goal for the Pirates, while Phil Lane iced the victory with an empty-net goal. It was Lane’s second goal of the night, while Brett Hextall scored the first goal for the victors.

Hunter Bishop put the Monarchs up 1-0 with a first-period tally, while Jordan Weal’s third-period goal knotted the score at 2. Brian O’Neil, Andrew Campbell, Brandon Kozun and Colton Yellow Horn notched assists for Manchester.
