Fisher Cats give it up in extra innings
Kevin Pillar singled with the bases loaded and two outs in the top of the 12th inning to give the Fisher Cats a 1-0 lead, but Reading bounced back with two runs in the bottom of the inning to beat New Hampshire, 2-1, yesterday.
Sebastian Valle walked with the bases loaded to tie the game and Miguel Abreu was hit by a pitch to force in the winning run for the Fightin’ Phils (12-10).
In the top of the 12th, the Fisher Cats (11-13) loaded the bases on singles by Kevin Ahrens, Jack Murphy and Amadeo Zazueta. Pillar drove in Ahrens, but Murphy was thrown out at the plate to end the inning.
In the bottom of the 12th, Zach Collier singled and Jim Murphy walked. After a sacrifice, Cameron Rupp was intentionally walked before Valle walked and Abreu was hit. Tommy Hottovy (0-1) took the loss.
