Meckler scores winner as Monarchs extend season with win over Falcons

The Manchester Monarchs extended their season yesterday, topping the Springfield Falcons, 2-1. The Monarchs now trail 2-1 in the best-of-five Calder Cup Eastern Conference quarterfinals, with Game 4 scheduled for tomorrow night at the Verizon Wireless Arena.

David Meckler scored in the second period on the power play to break a 1-1 tie for Manchester. The Monarchs grabbed a 1-0 first-period lead when Nicolas Deslauriers found the net, also on the power play, but lost the lead later in the first.

Martin Jones made 32 saves for the Monarchs.
