Fisher Cats lose for fifth time in six games
Kevin Nolan hit his second home run of the season and added an RBI single, but the New Hampshire Fisher Cats were limited to five hits and lost to the host Trenton Thunder, 6-2, last night.
The loss was the Fisher Cats’ fifth in their last six games and dropped their record to 16-21.
Trenton (20-16) took a 6-0 lead before Nolan (2-for-4) connected for a solo homer in the eighth. He singled in the ninth to plate Brad Glenn, who had walked for the second time in the game. Kevin Ahrens, Sean Ochinko and John Tolisano had the other New Hampshire hits, all singles.
Tyson Brummett (0-3, 6.11) suffered the loss, allowing three runs in five innings. He gave up six hits and one walk while striking out four. Reliever Matt Wright allowed three run and three hits in three innings.
The four-game series concludes today at 1:05. Left-hander Sean Nolin (0-0, 5.40) starts for the Fisher Cats against Trenton righty Jose Ramirez (0-0, 0.69). The Fisher Cats return home for their first matchup of the season with Red Sox affiliate Portland on Tuesday (6:35 p.m.).
