Fisher Cats blank Rock Cats, 5-0
John Tolisano belted a home run and drove in three runs to back superb pitching by the Fisher Cats (21-22) in a 5-0 victory yesterday over the New Britain Rock Cats (20-22). The victory moves the Fisher Cats into fourth place over the Rock Cats.
Sean Nolin (2-0) worked six shutout innings, extending his personal scoreless streak to 13 1∕3 innings. He was given a 1-0 lead to work with when Tolisano plated Kevin Ahrens with an RBI groundout in the third. Nolin allowed just four hits, striking out five before turning it over to Scott Gracey, who tossed a six-pitch seventh inning before Tolisano cranked his two-run homer in the eighth. An RBI single from Clint Robinson later in that inning pushed the Fisher Cats’ lead to 4-0.
New Hampshire added one more run in the ninth on a two-out single from Kevin Pillar. Tommy Hottovy struck out the side in the ninth to lock down the win.
