Rock Cats roll over Fisher Cats, 11-4
A four-run third inning gave New Britain the early lead, then a six-run seventh put the game away after the Fisher Cats had pulled within a run over the middle innings. In the end, the Rock Cats (24-26) came away with an 11-4 victory over New Hampshire (24-27).
A wind-aided triple by Nate Hanson drove in a pair in the third inning for the Rock Cats, who chased Fisher Cats starter Deck McGuire (2-5) after five-plus innings. McGuire yielded five runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out four.
Brad Glenn’s second homer in as many days – a two-run shot – cut the lead to 4-3 in the fifth inning, but the Fisher Cats could pull no closer. Kevin Pillar went 3-for-3 with an RBI and Sean Ochinko and Brian Van Kirk each added two hits.
Trevor May (4-2) earned the win for New Britain, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits and three walks in five innings.
