Fishers take opener in Portland, 6-3, in 11 innings

Loewen lifts Fishers

Adam Loewen drilled the first pitch of the top of the 11th inning for his fourth home run and the Fisher Cats went on to a 6-3 victory in Portland in the opener of a three-game series last night.

New Hampshire plated three runs in the 11th off losing pitcher Keith Couch (3-2). After Loewen’s homer, Kevin Ahrens walked and Kevin Pillar followed with a run-scoring triple. Kevin Nolan singled home the third run of the inning.

Randy Boone (1-0) worked three scoreless innings in relief to earn the win, with Joel Carreno finishing up for his seventh save.
