Concord Rec. soccer

The registration deadline for fall soccer for children in grades 3-6 is today. After today, players will be placed on teams that need players, not on their school teams. The Parks and Recreation Department offers fall soccer leagues for children from four years old to high school-age. To register, stop in at the Parks and Rec. office at the Heights Community Center between 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Call 225-8690.

NEW HAMPSHIRE MYSTICS, a fast pitch softball organization, is holding tryouts for the 14U team at the Center School in Windham. Soccer registration for the Bow Athletic Club fall recreation season is available online at bowathleticclub.com. Grades 1-2 will be co-ed teams within Bow, while grades 3-8 will play in the Merrimack Valley Soccer League. No experience necessary. Registration closes tomorrow. Team NH Baseball will hold tryouts for its 12-, 13-, 14- and 15-year-old teams for the 2014 season Saturday-Sunday. Tryouts will be held at Campbell High School, 1 Highlander Court in Litchfield at the following times: 9-11 a.m. (12-year-olds), 12:30-2:30 p.m. (ages 13 and 14) and 3-5 p.m. (15-year-olds). Cost is $35, and registration will open 30 minutes before scheduled tryout times. Players need only attend one tryout date. A parent or guardian must attend the tryout with the player. NH LADY CANNONS softball team will hold a second tryout on Sunday at the Concord Sport Center. MERRIMACK VALLEY FIELD HOCKEY for girls entering grades 3-6 will begin Aug. 25. Sign up at the Penacook Community Center. The program cost is $35 dollars. The season runs through October. Flag Football Registration is now open for the fall season of the Lakes Region Flag Football League. The early registration fee is $60. Pembroke Summer Recreation Program is still open for registration at the Pembroke Highway Department. The six-week program is open to any Pembroke or Allenstown children entering grades 1-6. The program runs through Friday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Memorial Field in Pembroke. Extended hours for early drop-off or late pick-up are available for an additional $10/week. A $15 non-refundable registration fee is required, and the cost of the program is $45/week for Pembroke residents and $55/week for Allenstown residents. Cost includes a weekly field trip. BILL HEINZ MEMORIAL youth golf tournament is set for Saturday-Sunday at Concord Country Club and Beaver Meadow Golf Course. MEN’S CITY GOLF championship will be played Aug. 24-25 at Concord Country Club and Loudon Country Club. Entry forms are located at the area clubs and must be accompanied with the entry fee of $60. Deadline for entry is today. Players must have a current handicap and be a member at one of the local host clubs or a resident of Concord. Play in the championship flight will be gross score, and all other flights based on handicap will be contested as net score.

CHS MEET THE COACH Night will be Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium. All fall athletes and their parents/guardians are expected to attend.

OWL’S NEST GOLF TOURNAMENT, to benefit the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Concord, is set for Aug. 29 with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Cost is $100 per person.
