Fisher Cats rough up Rock Cats, 9-3
Chad Jenkins and Chorye Spoone combined to shut out New Britain for the first seven innings as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats won on the road against the Rock Cats, 9-3, last night.
Jenkins scattered three hits over the first 41∕3 innings, striking out three, while Spoone threw 22∕3 innings of one-hit ball, striking out four.
Meanwhile, the Fisher Cats (59-63) touched up New Britain (58-66) for 16 hits, turning a 2-0 game into a rout with two runs in the sixth and five more in the seventh. A.J. Jimenez swung a hot bat for New Hampshire with a one-run double, a two-run double and an RBI single. Gabe Jacobo was 4-for-5 with an RBI double, RyanSchimpf stroked a three-run homer, and Andy Burns added a solo homer.
The Rock Cats got three runs back in the eighth off Dayton Marze, but by then the damage had been done.
