After trading goals in the game’s first 10 minutes, Pembroke broke open a tight game with six second-half goals in Saturday’s 7-1 victory over Merrimack Valley. Parker Heath (from Austin Sartwell) gave Pembroke a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute, only to see Andrew Peick tie it for MV three minutes later. After halftime, however, it was all Pembroke. Jeremy Caruso (from Aaron Locke), Locke (from Heath), Heath (from Sartwell), Spencer Nowe twice (one on a PK, once from Justus Turk) and Turk (from Brendon Pettigrew) tallied for the Spartans.
The Henniker 7th- and 8th-grade boys’ soccer team shut out Hillsboro, 9-0, with excellent teamwork.
∎ The 7th- and 8th-grade Henniker girls team #1 edged the Henniker team #2, 3-2. Both goalies – Jessie Besso for Henniker #2 and Avery Gorhan for Henniker #1 – did a splendid job in the net.
∎ The 5th- and 6th-grade Henniker girls beat Loudon, 6-2, behind great passing up the field and strong defense.
∎ The 3rd- and 4th-grade Henniker boys beat Loudon, 6-1, with great play and teamwork in all aspects of the game.
∎ The 3rd- and 4th-grade Henniker girls fell to Loudon, 2-0, despite a great job in net by Presely Gaberseck. There were great offensive and defensive plays by all team members.
∎ The Hopkinton Soccer Club U12 boys improved to 2-0 with a win over the Nashua Cobras. Derek West (goal, assist), Andrew Beckwith (goal), David Price (goal) and Daniel Miner (three goals, two assists) paced the offense. Michael Baer was strong on defense while also assisting on a goal.
The Concord Bantam 1 hockey team beat Tewksbury, 8-2, in the Valley League season opener. The Caps spread the scoring evenly, with goals by Andrew Cole (two), Drew Livingston (two), Riley Drew (one goal, one assist), Dan LeBell (one goal, one assist), Josh Holden (one) and Ethan Donlon (one). Liam O’Brien had three assists, and Kadin Mason and Cormick McGonigle each had two assists. Olliver Quinn played strong in net.
∎ The New Hampshire Distributors, Inc. Concord Capitals Squirt 2 team beat Haverhill, Mass., 4-2, in Valley League action. Aidan Pope, Jacob Marcoux, Ben Marceau and Brian McDonough scored, with assists from Parker Savoy and McDonough. Adam Omundson and Troy Nelson both played well in goal.
Hopkinton’s Hannah Richard scored two goals to lead the University of New Hampshire field hockey team (2-4) to a 3-1 victory over Northeastern (3-2) yesterday.

The New Hampton School football team defeated Kents Hill School, 50-8, on Saturday, scoring 28 points in the first quarter. Running back Matt Dean rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns. Robbie Donnelly led the defense with 11 tackles and a sack.

LOUDON RECREATION Committee Programming is offering a five-week fall basketball session open to boys and girls entering grades 5-8. In addition, the Legends will also pay tribute to the Concord High School boys’ and girls’ ice hockey programs.
