O’Neill’s two goals help fast-starting Monarchs beat Portland

Brian O’Neill scored a pair of goals to lift the Manchester Monarchs to a 6-2 win over the Portland Pirates last night.

O’Neill, who also had a pair of assists, tallied both of his goals in Manchester’s four-goal first period. The Monarchs went up on Nick Shore’s goal, then got both from O’Neill before Jordan Weal found the net to make it 4-1 entering the first intermission.

Andy Andreoff and Tanner Pearson added goals in the second and third periods, respectively. J.F. Berube stopped 27 of 29 shots for the win.
