High schools: Feliz brothers help Tide take fourth

It was a happy day on the track for Concord’s Feliz brothers. Angel and George Feliz accounted for a bulk of the Crimson Tide’s scoring as Concord placed fourth in an indoor track meet yesterday afternoon at UNH.

Pinkerton ran away with the meet, scoring a whopping 103 points, while Bedford (45), Londonderry (37.5), Concord (32) and Salem (25) rounded out the top five.

Sophomore Angel Feliz won the long jump, covering 19 feet, 3½ inches, and was second in the 55 dash and fourth in the 300, while senior George Feliz won the 55 hurdles in 7.7 seconds and took fifth in the 55 dash.

Gray Elden (fifth high jump) and the 4x160 relay team (third) provided the Tide’s other points.

Dillon Sylvester was fourth in the high jump for Franklin’s three points.

In the girls’ meet, a pair of Concord runners won in convincing fashion as the Tide placed seventh with 20 points. Pinkerton won the meet with 67 points, while Bedford edged Londonderry for second, 56-53.

Smita Boesch-Dining won the 1,500 in 5:02.5, beating her closest competitor by more than three seconds, and Rebecca Massah blazed to victory in the 55 hurdles, winning by half a second in 8.8.

Hana Knowles was fourth in the shot put, and Katherine Tebbits was sixth in the 1,000, while Concord also took fifth in the 4x400 relay behind the team of Tebbits, Grace Orzechowski, Massah and Boesch-Dining.

Franklin didn’t score, but Sadie Kaplan was the top performer, taking seventh in the shot put.

GIRLS’ INDOOR TRACK

Meet at Southern Maine

Coe-Brown placed second at the Seacoast Meet at Southern Maine, scoring 45 points to finish behind Winnacunnet (85).

The Bears gained a bulk of their points in the distance events. Hannah Parker won the 600 (1:39.2), Brooke Laskowsky won the 1,000 (3:14.65) with Mary Fowler third, Elisabeth Danis won the 3,000 (10:29.86) with Jessie Carney third, and Meg Scannell took third in the 1,500.

Alley Savioli won the shot put with a toss of 33-11, while Jelasa Nelson was third in the 55, and Christen Gallant was sixth in the 55 hurdles.

Coe-Brown’s 4x400 relay team of Jordan May, Daphne Jordan, Danis and Fowler placed fourth.

BOYS’ INDOOR TRACK

Meet at Southern Maine

Coe-Brown’s Jeremy Brassard showed his versatility, winning both the 600 (1:24.23) and the 3,000 (8:51.45) in the Seacoast Meet at Southern Maine.

Portsmouth won with 80.5 points, with Dover edging Winnacunnet for second, 43-39. Coe-Brown was eighth with 15 points.

Zach Richards (fourth 1,000) accounted for the Bears’ other points.
