Describe your season in one word. unfortunate
What was the most memorable part of the season? There was not just one memory. The whole year was built on memories. A big memory was beating Maine in the All-Star game and contributing, going 3-for-5. Felt good to represent NH. Also breaking Concord High School’s all-time batting average will forever be a memory of mine.
What’s more satisfying, hitting one over the fence, or turning a double play? When the ball is hit over the fence there is a huge feeling of satisfaction. Especially when it puts your team back on top. With one swing of the bat, the game can be completely changed and I love being in that situation. Don’t get me wrong, turning a clean and quick double play to get out of a jam is the best feeling, it lifts the whole team’s spirits and gets them pumped up coming into the dugout. Our goal is to pick up our pitchers, turning double plays is a big contributor.
Who is the unsung hero of the Concord baseball team? An unsung hero is a role model whose generous acts of compassion, strength and sacrifice make a positive difference in other people’s lives. The unsung hero at Concord High is Mike Manoogian. He has gone through more than the average baseball player can imagine. With two big knee surgeries sophomore year, Mike was out for over a year. What he did next took more courage and strength than anything I have ever witnessed. Mike showed all of us that no matter how big the bumps are in the road, we can still conquer our dreams. He has been a role model to me and many others.
Who’s the best clutch hitter you’ve played with? The best clutch hitter I have ever played with was Dillon Emerson. Whenever we needed him, he would come through.
Fill in the blank: Scott Owen is big on players who can __________ work hard on and off the field.
Who’s your favorite major league player? My favorite baseball player is Andrelton Simmons (Atlanta Braves shortstop)
Do you have any superstitions? Before the start of every inning I write out my grandfather’s initials into the dirt.
If you could play a game at any major league park, which would it be? It would definitely be at Fenway Park.
If you didn’t play baseball, what would be your biggest sport? What would you play in the spring? To be honest, I can’t imagine myself not playing baseball. But probably golf or waterskiing.
What sport (besides baseball) do you follow closest? the Patriots and Celtics
What’s your favorite movie? Favorite movie is 61 and For the Love of the Game
What’s your favorite band/artist? I like country music. I don’t have a favorite artist.
If any past TV show could be brought back, which would you want to see? I would bring back The Office with Steve Carell.
What is the best coaching advice you’ve ever received? Don’t forget where you came from. (Matt Tupman)
You’ll be playing baseball at Hartford next year. How nervous/excited are you? I would say I am both nervous and excited. It’s a good nervous, though. I am excited to bring my talent to a growing program. I’d like to come in and make a big impact right away. But in this situation words don’t mean anything. I’ll have to prove myself on and off the field. The biggest thing is to go in with confidence. This has been one of my dreams and I can’t wait to get down to Hartford.
