Bow claims Monitor Cup for 2012-13 school year

Bow High School swept all three seasons of this year’s Monitor Cup to claim the overall school year title.

The Monitor Cup ranks the area’s high school varsity sports programs, awarding points based on records, how far teams advanced in the tournament and individual champions (in sports such as track and field).

Bow racked up 411 points during the school year to outdistance Hopkinton (348.5) and Concord (328.5) in the top three. Bow just edged Concord, 119-114.5, to claim the spring portion of the award.

In the weighted rankings, where total points are divided by the number of varsity sports offered, allowing smaller schools to measure themselves against their larger counterparts, Hopkinton (15.84 average) beat Bow (15.22) for top honors for the school year, while Pittsfield (15.5) was tops for the spring, thanks to its baseball championship.
