High school boys’ lacrosse Player of the Season
School: Hopkinton High
Honors: Div. III Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-State
3 favorites: My dog Max, family, friends
What was the highlight of your season? I would have to say that the highlight of my season was walking out on to the field at Stellos Stadium for our championship game. That experience is unlike anything else in NH lacrosse.
Who was the unsung hero of your team? Why? I think that there were a couple people that didn’t get the praise they deserved such as my assistant coach Deacon Blue, and I hate leaving the other seniors out, but Nate Hunt played great all year and really helped the defense jell.
What are the most important skills or strengths for a lacrosse goalie? The most important attribute would likely be to not be afraid of the ball, but besides that I think it would have to be the ability to trust your teammates that they will make the right play to help you out. I would also say the ability to track shots would be an important strength for a goalie.
How did you end up becoming a lacrosse goalie? I actually became a goalie because my brother needed someone to shoot on in the backyard and I happened to be the most readily available person in the house.
Do you have any superstitions when it comes to lacrosse? Just my hair. My teammate, Bennett Mosseau, refused to let me cut it until after the season and in the process I guess I became superstitious about it. Unfortunately it’s gone now, but I can promise a reappearance for next year’s season.
If you weren’t playing lacrosse in the spring, what would you be doing? I like to play tennis, so I’d probably be playing a lot of that. I’ve watched it on TV and I think playing competitively would be fun.
What are you two favorite lacrosse fields to play on? Why? The first would have to be Stellos Stadium because I like playing on turf fields and the atmosphere surrounding the games is always awesome. I also love to play on my own field in Hopkinton because this is where I grew up playing. It’s also where I spend a lot of time with my brother just playing around as well.
How would you improve high school lacrosse in New Hampshire? I like it how it is, but I guess a shot clock couldn’t hurt, speed up the game a bit.
What other sport do you wish you were good at? Hockey, it looks like such a fun sport to play. I’m probably influenced with the fact that the Stanley Cup finals are going on right now, but it still looks fun.
If you could go to any sporting event, what would it be? I’ve been wanting to go to the World Cup coming up in Brazil for a while. I’m a big soccer fan, so that would be a very cool trip.
What was the last sporting event you paid to go see? My teammate, Bennett Mosseau, and I went with our dads to watch the Johns Hopkins vs. Loyola lacrosse game in Baltimore, Md. It was one of the coolest places to visit and it was great to have the opportunity to see that.
If you could drop one class, but had to replace it with another, would you and what would they be? I would probably drop geometry and add a music class of some sorts because I’ve always wished that I could play an instrument.
What’s your most played song right now? Anything by the band Imagine Dragons. Overall, they’re my favorite band right now.
What’s your favorite website? ESPN.com, I like my sports, so I visit it at least once a day.
Favorite thing to search for on You Tube? New music and lacrosse highlight videos, there can never be enough of either.
What’s your favorite place to eat and what do you get there? I’m a big fan of the Olive Garden and I don’t really have a favorite dish, most of the food is pretty good.
If you could trade places with anyone in the world for a week who would it be and what would you do? Right now I would change places with Tom Brady. He seems to have a pretty solid life, so I think it would be fun to be him for a week.
If you won $25 million in the lottery what would you do with the money? I would probably take a trip to Europe and explore or maybe I’d use it to take that trip to Brazil and watch the World Cup.
