High school girls’ tennis Player of the Season

Girls’ tennis

School: Bow High

Class: Senior

Honors: Undefeated state singles champion; undefeated team Division III championship; state runner-up in doubles with partner Nisha Naik

Describe your season in one word. Memorable.

Who was the unsung hero of your team? I thought Alex Lust had such a confident yet calming presence on the court. She always had a positive attitude, and you never really had to worry about her matches because no matter what the score was, you knew she was out there to give it her all and try her best to win, which she managed to do almost all the time.

Who was the toughest opponent you faced this year? Briana Leonard because I had never made it to the finals before and going into the match, I had to focus on forgetting about past matches and records and just focus on my game in that moment.

What will you most about high school? I’ll miss the sweet scent of freshly baked muffins after struggling to stay awake in my Period 1 class.

Do you have any tennis superstitions? Not really. Part of me wishes I did, but part of me is happy that I’m not the superstitious type. I once read that Ana Ivanovic doesn’t step on any of the lines if she can help it, and sometimes I find myself doing that as well.

Other than your racket, what’s the most important piece of equipment you bring on the court? My noggin. Without that, my racquet is useless.

If you could change or add one thing to the town of Bow, what would it be? I’d like to have a little downtown right by our community building, just to give it a little more of that New England charm. And possibly a grass court in my backyard … hopefully my dad is reading this.

If someone was going to make a movie of the Bow High tennis season, who would you want to play you? I’m gonna go with Shakira, since a lot of my teammates seem to think I look just like her. I’m also thinking there could be a huge “High School Musical-like” number on our courts, so I definitely need someone with a killer voice.

Who would play Coach Rainville? I would. No actress could possibly capture that personality. Plus, that way I get a spot in the movie!

What other sport would you like to be good at? I’d love to be a great volleyball player like Misty May. I’m actually training for Rio 2016 with a friend right now, so be on the lookout!

You’re going to Yale; do you already hate Harvard? What kind of a future Yalie do you think I am?

Do you have any thoughts about what you might like to study in college? Haven’t really thought about it, but I promise that I will stay as far away as I can from math and science now that high school is over.

What’s your most visited website? My gmail account, though I clearly don’t check it enough since I’m just getting around to completing these questions.

What’s your favorite thing to search for on YouTube? Movie trailers. If someone made a movie of movie trailers, I’d be the first one in line to see it!

Preferred social media: Facebook, Twitter, other (what is it), or nothing? Is good ol’ fashioned letter writing an option? If not, then Facebook.

If you could be any animal, what would it be? I would be a dove so that I could experience the joys of flying and have people associate me with the delicious chocolates!

If you won $25 million in the lottery, what would you do with the money? I’ve actually had this conversation with my family many times, and usually the answer involves a home in France, lots of money to charities, and a vacation to New Zealand and Greece.
