St. Paul’s girls’ hockey team will play game at Fenway Park
Coming off its strongest season yet at 23-2-1, the St. Paul’s School girls’ hockey team has been invited to participate in the Frozen Fenway’s Independent School League hockey day.
The team will face ISL opponent Governor’s Academy on Jan. 8 at 1:30 p.m. at Fenway Park.
“The team is both honored and ecstatic to be invited to play at Frozen Fenway,” said Big Red Coach Heather Farrell in a press release. “It’s a great opportunity to play a unique game in a unique setting. We are excited to play a team like Governor’s, which has such a storied history in hockey, in front of what we hope is a great crowd.”
The Big Red’s game is just one in the 17-day ice event, which will run from Dec. 28 to Jan. 13. There will be seven public and private high school hockey games and nine men’s and women’s college hockey games.
In the press release, St. Paul’s Athletic Director Scott Heitmiller also said the school was excited.
“What an amazing opportunity for the girls and the school to have this experience,” he said. “I hope many SPS fans will come to support the team.”
