The Insiders: Lucky you, there’s plenty of Friday fun today

Don’t look now, but it’s Friday the 13th. Okay, you can look if you want. But our advice for the day is to avoid anyone wielding an unusually long knife or chainsaw or wearing a hockey mask at the office. Unless you work at a chainsaw and hockey mask factory, in which case carry on. Fear not, though – there’s no bad luck here. Only fun events involving high school students. For instance, tonight is the first of three shows of The Nutcracker: Act II at St. Paul’s School, an abridged version of the classic holiday dance show put on by the St. Paul’s School Ballet Company. Admission is free and the show begins at 7:30, though the doors open at 7. There will also be shows tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.

Also, tonight beginning at 6 will be the National Honor Society Winter Wonderland at Concord High School, featuring live music, crafts, games and food in an event geared toward children between the ages of 2 and 10, but open to everyone. Well, everyone with two bucks or a couple cans of food: Admission is $2 or two canned food items, as the evening is to benefit the National Honor Society’s canned food drive.
