Boston’s Lucic fined $5,000 for spearing

NEW YORK – Boston Bruins forward Milan Lucic was fined $5,000 for spearing Detroit defenseman Danny DeKeyser during their opening playoff game.

Lucic was fined by the NHL yesterday for spearing DeKeyser in the second period of the Red Wings’ 1-0 victory Friday night.

No penalty was called on the play.

The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
