Drazenovic’s OT goal sends Monarchs home for the season

Nick Drazenovic scored 8:06 into overtime to lift Springfield over Manchester, 4-3, last night and end the Monarchs’ season. The Falcons won the AHL best-of-5 opening-round series, 3-1.

Facing elimination at home, the Monarchs got off to a quick start, leading 3-1 less than six minutes into the second period on a pair of goals by Linden Vey and one by Colton Yellow Horn. But Springfield tied it before the middle frame ended. Blake Parlett, Boone Jenner and Michael Chaput scored regulation goals for the Falcons.

Manchester outshot Springfield, 12-7, in the third period but could not get the winner past Curtis McElhinney (37 saves).
