Fisher Cats beat Sea Dogs to extend winning streak to six
Kevin Nolan’s sacrifice fly capped a comeback as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats beat the visiting Portland Sea Dogs, 5-4, in the opener of a four-game series last night, extending their winning streak to six.
Trailing 4-3 heading to the bottom of the eighth, the Fisher Cats rallied when Brad Glenn walked and Clint Robinson doubled with one out, followed by a wild pitch that plated Glenn to tie the score. Robinson then scored on Nolan’s sacrifice fly off reliever Miguel Celestino (1-6).
Glenn hit his ninth homer of the season in the third inning, Robinson went 2-for-4 with a double and a triple, and Nolan went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Alan Farina earned his second save, pitching a scoreless inning to secure the victory for Tyson Brummett (1-4).
∎ Fisher Cats catcher AJ Jimenez was named to the World Team for the MLB Futures Game during MLB All-Star weekend. Jimenez, 23, hit safely in his first 14 games for the Fisher Cats before going 0-for-4 last night. He’s hitting .413 (26-for-63) with seven doubles and 13 RBI.
The All-Star Futures Game is scheduled for July 14 at 2 p.m. at Citi Field in New York.
