Stroman’s 13 strikeouts not enough as Fisher Cats fall

Marcus Stroman set the single-game strikeout record for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, but it wasn’t enough as the New Britain Rock Cats pulled out a 3-1 victory last night.

Stroman set a team mark for a regular season game with 13 strikeouts, but was touched up in the fourth and fifth innings for a total of three runs. He tied the team record for strikeouts in a game, which was set by Gustavo Chacin during the 2004 playoffs.

New Hampshire scored its only run in the ninth on a Brian Van Kirk RBI single.

The Fisher Cats will now try to even the series tonight at 7. Lefty Sean Nolin will take the hill against New Britain righty Virgil Vasquez.
