Fisher Cats roll behind the pitching of Nolin

Sean Nolin settled in after a shaky start to pitch shutout ball into the seventh inning, and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats used three two-run innings to beat the host New Britain Rock Cats, 6-1, last night.

Nolin (5-2, 2.61) stranded five runners in the first three innings, then retired nine of 10 batters in the fourth through sixth innings. He pitched 6 2∕3, allowing five hits and two walks while striking out seven.

Ryan Schimpf (3-for-3, two RBI, league-leading 16th homer), Clint Robinson (3-for-4, two RBI) and Brad Glenn (2-for-4, two doubles, RBI) led the Fisher Cats offense.

New Hampshire opens a five-game series at home tonight at 7:05 against the Binghamton Mets. Marcus Walden (5-8, 3.18) gets the ball for the Fisher Cats against Logan Verrett (8-4, 4.06).
