Fisher Cats knocked out of contention with loss to Sea Dogs,
The New Hampshire Fisher Cats closed out their home schedule on a down note last night, falling to the Portland Sea Dogs, 9-3, and getting knocked out of the playoff race in the process.
With a 67-70 record, the Fisher Cats can’t catch the Trenton Thunder for second place in the Eastern Division, barring any cancelled games between the Sea Dogs (67-70) and Thunder over the weekend.
Adam Loewen provided a highlight for New Hampshire by going 2-4 with a double, an RBI and an outfield assist.
Keith Couch (11-3) earned the win for Portland, which took three of four in the series. J.C. Linares led the offense by going 4-for-5 with four extra-base hits.
The Fisher Cats hit the road to end the season with a series against the first-place Binghamton Mets. Deck McGuire (9-9, 4.96) pitches against Binghamton’s DarinGorski (5-1, 2.01) in the series opener tonight at 7:05.
