McGuire stellar, but Fisher Cats shut out by Mets, 3-0
A day after being eliminated from playoff contention, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats saw a stellar pitcher performance from Deck McGuire go for naught in a 3-0 loss to the first-place Binghamton Mets last night.
McGuire matched Mets starter Darin Gorski zero for zero until Binghamton struck for three runs on an error, two walks (one intentional) and a double in the sixth inning. McGuire pitched 6 2∕3 innings and allowed just two hits while walking four and striking out seven. Gorski allowed two hits and no walks while striking out five in seven innings to improve to 6-1.
The Fisher Cats had just four hits overall, with Adam Loewen’s double accounting for their only extra-base hit.
