Monarchs dealt second regulation loss, 5-2 to St. John’s

Doomed by slow start

St. John’s jumped to a 2-0 lead after the first period and went on to a 5-2 victory last night, ending the Manchester Monarchs’ winning streak at three games.

Manchester (8-2-1-2) finally got on the board when Nick Deslauriers put home a loose puck 3:19 into the third period, assisted by Colin Miller, to make it 3-1. St. John’s (6-6-1-0) scored the next two goals before Manchester’s Scott Sabourin scored his first of the season, on a power play, with 2:15 left.

Miller and Jordan Weal assisted.

Monarchs goalie Martin Jones (8-2-2) finished with 27 saves.
