My Turn
It is with regret that I am letting the community know that Justin Lavigne, Hopkinton recreation director, has submitted his letter of resignation effective May 13. With this resignation the selectmen are taking this opportunity to downsize the position to 30 hours per week without benefits and adding a new position, assistant director, for the Slusser Senior Center that will be…

The Hopkinton town administrator recently advised the selectmen to move the director of human services from the Slusser Senior Center to the town hall. I was one of many people who came to inquire about this recommendation - only to be told that the selectmen had already made their decision in non-public session. I don't need to tell you about the difficult economic times our country is going through. I will continue to serve the residents of Hopkinton as…

Our hearts went out to Gene and Anne Slusser, whose generosity allowed the town to build the center, and to the seniors, the selectmen and residents whose hopes for our town were so arrogantly disregarded.
Never in the collective memory of any board member or any…

On Oct. 16 the Hopkinton selectmen and town assessor listened as about 50 of our fellow residents vented their frustrations with the recent adjustment of property values as a result of the conversion from CLT to the new Avitar Assessing System.
Board members have heard from many individuals, our friends, neighbors and residents on the street, about the recent bill and its effect…
