How strange it is to see state workers complain of benefits earned taken away - and then read about how the state Department of Health and Human Services has increased the Women, Infants and Children program for a family of four. This family of four now can earn up to $40,793 yearly or $3,400 monthly or $785 a week and be eligible for assistance.

Letter
Town meetings should be known as the day that elected officials, family and friends gather for cookies and coffee to praise the town employees and raise taxes for the rest of the town while filling their stomachs and pockets. I think SB 2 should be made law for the state by the state. It should not be up to towns to decide.

I received my letter last week from the IRS explaining how much I would receive as a stimulus payment. I got my town report report book on March 10. I realized after reading it for 10 minutes that the town of Hill had appropriated the whole check plus, and I didn't even get it yet. In response to "Smoke, but elsewhere" by Dan Marchand (Monitor letter, March 14): I have many opinions of my own and have expressed them only to be told if I didn't like it, leave - which I did.
The taxes paid by smokers make up a share of state revenue which isn't mentioned
Why aren't smokers allowed to smoke in any areas they support? I don't believe a cigarette has ever shot…
