The Insiders: If you love hockey, then White Park is the place to be
We understand that it’s freezing outside and the last thing you want to do is go outside.
Believe us, we’re right there with you. But this is New Hampshire and the harsh truth is that we all must leave our homes at some point this winter. You can’t hibernate forever. So put on those puffy jackets and boots, hats and mittens and head on down to White Park. If you’re a fan of hockey, this is just what the doctor ordered.
The fourth annual 1883 Black Ice Pond Hockey Championship kicks off this morning at 9. The pond is broken up into eight rinks in order to fit in the full slate of games. With 89 teams all guaranteed four games between today and Saturday, that’s a lot of action. We’d tell you how many games total that is, but it would involve way too much math. Plus, you can’t rely on us for everything.
The final set of games start at 7:44 this evening, so no matter when you make it to White Park, there will be plenty of hockey to see. And with local teams like the Swamp Donkeys, Scared Hitless and Babes of Glory, how can you go wrong? And those are just the names we can print.
But for those looking to enjoy some inside activities, check out Fun Family Friday at the Y. There will be dinner, as well as gym games, pool activities and the climbing wall. Sign up at the YMCA front desk or call 228-9622 before noon today to register, just to ensure there’s enough food to go around. It’s just $5 per family.
