The Insiders: After a snow day, we recommend going back to school
Breaking news: It’s snowing. Again. We hope you enjoyed the three days since it last snowed, and the three days between that storm and the previous one; relaxing, extended respites all. Here’s the plan we’ve devised for surviving winters where it is alternately dumping 6 inches of powder in our driveway and minus-55 degrees with the windchill: Invent the Santa Barbara Insider.
Honestly, though, as writers whose job it is to tell you to do things in the afternoon and evenings, this is a recurring source of frustration. Whatever activities we would have guided you to this afternoon will likely be cancel ed by the time you read this. Unless, of course, we tell you how fun and exciting it would be to shovel the Insider parking lot, but we’re guessing attendance at that event might be low.
So here’s what we’ll do instead: Tell you about something to do tomorrow. Our weekend columns will likely be filled with standard weekendy-type events and activities, so a Friday night high school basketball tilt could easily fall through the cracks. But we won’t let it. Don’t miss your chance to see two of the best teams in Division II square off tomorrow night at 6:30 when Bishop Brady (10-2 record this year) heads to Pembroke (12-1) for a showdown sure to feature a playoff atmosphere. Brady’s backcourt boasts two of the state’s most exciting players in brothers Jourdain and Joe Bell, the former of whom is a truly dazzling and electric point guard, and Pembroke has lost exactly one game in the last two winters. This is the kind of showdown that makes high school sports so great. Don’t miss it. But for now, back to your regularly scheduled snow removal.
