The Insiders: Cats and birthday cake, what a day!
Someone’s turning 100 years old this month. And we’ll let you in on a little secret. There’s a huge party today to celebrate.
The New Hampshire Audubon is throwing a birthday bash today at 10 a.m. at the McLane Center at 84 Silk Farm Road. The day of family fun will include bird related arts and crafts, as well as cupcake decorating for the kids. It is, after all, a party.
There will be bird presentations with peregrine falcons, red-tailed hawks and barred owls, along with Bird Tales, the puppet show. And with all this fresh snow, the guided snowshoe will be epic.
But we may have left out a few crucial details. First is that there’s a birthday cake making competition, so there will be some pretty extravagant cakes on display. You can also buy raffle tickets for a chance to win one. Second, is that the Audubon is having a cake made for the birthday, so there will be free cake.
And actually, the whole day is free. The only thing you will need money for is raffle tickets and lunch if you want. The cake cutting will take place at 12:15 p.m. and the first 100 people to attend will receive a goody bag.
Now for all the cat lovers out there, this is the day you’ve been waiting for. Are you sitting down? Because what we’re about to tell you might just blow your mind.
Today is the start of the All Breed Cat Show, put on by the Himalayan Cat Fanciers. Close to 80 cute and cuddly kitties will be showcased at the Grappone Conference Center starting at 9 a.m. and lasting for seven hours. The show includes four judging rings, and did we mention there’s a kitten division? It costs $5 to attend and will be held on Sunday at the same time.
