The Insiders: What could be more fun than a town meeting sing-a-long?

By the time you read this, we’ll both be out covering town meetings today (shameless news plug). If things get too slow at any point, we were thinking of starting a town meeting sing-a-long, where we beatbox while someone raps all the cool stuff on the warrant.

It’s probably easier to conduct a sing-a-long in conjunction with something that actually features singing, though. Thankfully, Red River Theatres was on the ball in that regard, scheduling a Les Miserables Sing-a-Long this evening at 6 (insert aren’t some of the people at town meeting Les Miserables joke here).

You don’t have to cut your hair like Anne Hathaway to get in – although why wouldn’t you? – but there will be a costume contest, so find your best 19th century garb (or 19th century garbage bag) and set out for a night on the town. Look at it this way – even if you don’t win, you’ll be the talk of whatever bar you visit afterward.

The evening will also feature trivia, but the main draw has to be the opportunity to belt out tunes with a theater full of people you’ve never met.

For the early risers among us – or, should we say, among you – today will also feature the annual tea party for children at the Penacook branch of the Concord Public Library. Children may bring their favorite doll and dress up. Adults can bring their favorite doll, too, but it might look weird. The tea party kicks off at 10 a.m.

Also, Second Wind will be playing at Hermanos at 7:30 p.m., and St. Paul’s School will host a matinee showing of Cinderella Caterpillar at 1 p.m. in Memorial Hall. The “savvy spoof” will be put on by the Junior Service League.
