The Insiders: Comedy and opera, one great combination
There are some things that just go together. Like peanut butter and jelly, butter and popcorn, and sardines and vanilla pudding. (Okay, we made that last one up.)
But what if we told you that comedy and opera belong on that list as well? While you might be a bit surprised at first, if you attend tonight’s opening performance of Gilbert & Sullivan’s HMS Pinafore by the Concord Light Opera Company, you’ll see what we’re talking about.
The show begins at 8 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 274 Pleasant St. Tickets are $20 and $15 for students and seniors. How can you go wrong with funny singing? The answer is you can’t.
But if bright colors are more your cup of tea, head over to McGowan Fine Art at 5 p.m. for the opening reception of “Flowers, Orchards and Mountains: Paintings by Bruce McColl.” The exhibit is on display through May 2. You might even get a few snacks if you check it out tonight.
