The Insiders: Your mom told us to tell you to go play outside today
Remember when you were young and your mother would tell you it was a beautiful day and to go play outside? That was just so she could get you out of her hair to enjoy seven or eight minutes of peace and quiet. You can’t really blame her. Well, we’re about to tell you to go play outside today, but it’s not because we want you out of our hair (yes it is).
It’s supposed to be a lovely day, and there’s plenty to keep you busy. There’s a Drawing Attention In Concord: Urban Sketching event at 10 a.m. under the arch at the State House. Bring your own materials and draw whatever you like with other sketch-minded artists. Things kick off at 10 a.m., with a lunch and show and tell in Eagle Square at noon. For more info, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you prefer your outdoors with a little more tasty grub, head over to Heritage Harley-Davidson for a Community Day Barbecue Fundraiser for the SPCA beginning at 11 a.m. If you live on the Heights or have some connection to the area, that should leave plenty of time for you to stop off at Keach Park at noon for the Heights Community Old Home Day celebration, featuring children’s activities, talent competitions, a parade of decorated bicycles, music and – our personal favorite – pie.
If you still haven’t had enough outdoorsiness, there is a Korean War Veterans Ceremony at the Army Aviation Support Facility at 2 p.m., featuring an appearance from Gov. Maggie Hassan.
