The Insiders: Walk with the Animals, or at least sign up to do so
As you may well know, we love animals. It’s almost to the point of obsession. Like where we can’t even walk down the street cause we want to photograph and pet just about each one we come across. And it’s only because from what we understand it’s frowned upon to give deer, moose and ducks a good scratch under the chin.
Nevertheless, when it comes to our furry friends, we have a hard time saying no – like when it comes to special treats, play time outside or taking up a large portion of the couch.
We know it’s hard to think about all the animals who don’t get the perks of being someone’s pet, but unfortunately, there are many of them. But there’s good news because tonight can be your first step in making a difference. At 5:30 p.m., the Pope Memorial SPCA will host a team captain meeting for its Sept. 14 Walk for the Animals fundraiser.
It will be an informational session about the event, but here’s a few tidbits to get you thinking. There’s a $30 registration fee per person. But if a person raises at least $50 then the fee is waived. It is a fundraiser after all. Teams who raise $100 per person prior to Aug. 8 will receive an event t-shirt with its team name on it. And just so you know, dogs (on leashes) are welcome the day of the event.
