The Insiders: Share poetry and maybe learn ways to describe body parts at Gibson’s tonight
It’s the third Wednesday of the month, which can only mean one thing: There have already been two other Wednesdays in the month. Actually, it means two things, because it’s also the Poetry Society of New Hampshire’s poetry reading and open mic night at Gibson’s Bookstore at 7 p.m. Featured this month are Jennifer Militello and Michele Leavitt – and you, if you muster the courage to grab the mic after them (we encourage the mustering of it). The pros go first at 7, followed by the open mic.
Speaking of the professionals who will kick things off, Militello is the author of book called Body Thesaurus, a book we hope is literally a collection of awesome ways to describe body parts. She was also a finalist for the Alice Fay di Castagnola Award, which is almost certainly the poetry award with the most last names. Leavitt is also an award-winner, having taken the Michael Macklin First Book Prize, which we would assume is way better than the prize you get at the bottom of a box of Honey Nut Cheerios.
