Monarchs fall to Bruins for second straight loss
Providence’s Ryan Spooner broke a 1-all tie with a power-play goal with two seconds left in the second period, and the Bruins went on to deal the Manchester Monarchs their second straight loss, 3-1, yesterday.
Manchester (29-26-3-4) had scored at least one point in nine straight games before losing in regulation the last two days.
Jordan Weal scored the Monarchs’ lone goal (his 10th of the season) at 12:48 of the second period, unassisted, to tie the game at 1-1. But Spooner broke the tie, then had one of the assists on Graham Mink’s insurance goal with 9:35 left in the game.
Manchester goalie Jean-Francois Berube made 34 saves while making his first start for the Monarchs since April, 11, 2010.
The Monarchs return to action against the Springfield Falcons on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
