Show mom love with pancakes
Hi Mom! It’s Mothers Day, the one day every year where you give your mom a card before doing a bunch of stuff that makes her crazy. If you are looking for a good start to the itinerary for the day, we suggest skipping any reference to the $100 in tickets you piled up while borrowing her car.
After that, it’s time to make brunch for mom. Well, it’s time for someone to make brunch for mom, anyway. The Granite Restaurant at the Centennial Inn (96 Pleasant St.) is featuring a special Mothers Day brunch buffet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., including a variety of breakfast items, a waffle station, entree selections, a carving station and dessert. Price is $28.95 for adults, $26.95 for seniors, $17.95 for children under 15 and free for children under 6.
The Red Blazer (72 Manchester St.) also goes buffet-style with its special Mothers Day offerings, which include signature items such as breakfast pizza, egg lasagna, sausage-stuffed biscuits, blueberry pancakes and an omelet station. The buffet is $10.99 for adults and $6.99 for children. (Quick Insiders rankings: Carving station or omelet station > gas station or radio station.)

In other news, moms are pretty familiar with wild things. The general public refers to them as “children.” Also, we all know that most moms are women. To that end, we have the perfect Mothers Day event: The Concord Chorale is wrapping up a weekend of performances celebrating contemporary women composers with “The Peace of Wild Things” this afternoon at 3 at St. John the Evangelist Church. Tickets are $20, $15 for students and seniors. (Brownie points note: When you bring mom, spring for her ticket.) Tickets are available at the door or by calling 463-5504.
