The Insiders: Help your children take this advice straight to the bank

Everyone knows the two best places to stash your money in order to best build personal wealth – a piggy bank or under your mattress. Well, it’s time to impart the sharpened financial wisdom that has made you a thousandaire on to your children, so they can grow up to enjoy similar financial independence. (Financial independence is when you, independently, owe a lot of money to a lot of people, right?)

If your two cents isn’t going to be enough, though, take advantage of the opportunity to talk with someone who knows what a portfolio actually is tonight when The Woman’s Club of Concord hosts Growing Money Smart Kids, a presentation from Melody Evans, a financial representative from Northwestern Mutual.

The discussion is tabbed as an opportunity to develop financially-prepared children “from diapers to diplomas,” with the goal, we presume, of making sure that journey takes fewer than 25 years. The meeting will be particularly beneficial to those with children or grandchildren or those who are about to become “a new mommy or daddy,” the Woman’s Club said. Those who are about to become sugar daddies may find it less pertinent.

The discussion runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Chamberlin House at 44 Pleasant St.

Tonight is your chance to find out, when Intown Concord holds its fifth annual Upstairs Downtown Tour, beginning at 5:30 p.m. It’s a two-hour guided tour of select downtown buildings, followed by a wine and cheese reception on the top floor of the Capital Commons office building.
